Brand deck design the rules, written down once..
Most brands are not undocumented because nobody cared — they grew faster than anyone had time to write them down. A brand deck settles what the identity is, so every person who touches it afterwards gets it right without asking.

N° 01What a brand deck is for
Not decoration — a document people act on.
01
It stops the drift
Six months of one-off requests and a brand has four blues, three logo versions and a font nobody licensed. A deck is the reference that ends the argument, because the answer is written down rather than remembered differently by everyone.
02
It briefs people faster than you can
A new designer, a printer, a freelancer, an agency. Hand them the deck and the work comes back close. Without one, every brief is retyped from memory and each retelling loses something.
03
It makes the brand look owned
Investors, partners and enterprise buyers read a documented brand as a sign of a company that runs itself properly. That reading is worth more than it should be, and it is cheap to earn.
N° 02What goes in
Everything usable, nothing ornamental.
01
Logo, lockups, clear space, minimums
Every version anyone will actually need — horizontal, stacked, icon-only, mono, on light and on dark — with the space around it and the size below which it stops working.
02
Colour anyone can paste
HEX, RGB, CMYK and Pantone where it matters, plus which colour does what. A palette without hierarchy just moves the argument from 'which blue' to 'how much blue'.
03
Type as a scale, not a list
Naming two typefaces is not a system. Sizes, weights, line heights and the pairing rules are what let someone lay out a page they have never seen and have it look like you.
04
Voice, with real sentences
'Friendly but professional' means nothing on its own. Written examples — this, not that — are the only part of a voice section anyone can follow.
05
A misuse page
Stretched, recoloured, on a busy photo, with a drop shadow. The page people remember, because it shows the failure rather than describing it.
N° 03How we work
Audit what exists, then decide what is true.
01
We start from what is in use
Website, decks, packaging, social, whatever exists. The real brand is what is out there, not what was intended three years ago — and the gap between them is usually where the useful decisions are.
02
Contradictions get resolved, not documented
If there are three blues in circulation, the deck picks one and says so. A document that faithfully records the mess is not a standard.
03
Delivered so it can be used
PDF for reading, editable source for updating, and the asset pack — logo files in the formats people actually ask for — so nobody ever crops a logo out of a screenshot again.
Questions
The answers we give most often.
- What is a brand deck?
- The document that shows what a brand looks and sounds like, and sets the rules for using it — logo, colour, type, imagery, voice, and the misuses to avoid.
- How is it different from full brand guidelines?
- Length and audience. The deck is the presentable version that aligns a team; full guidelines are the reference manual with every edge case.
- How is it different from a pitch deck?
- A pitch deck argues for a decision. A brand deck defines a standard. One persuades, the other governs.
- What should it include?
- Positioning, logo and lockups, colour values, type scale, imagery direction, tone of voice with examples, and a misuse page.
- Do I need one before a pitch deck?
- Not required, but it helps — the pitch deck inherits the brand instead of reinventing it.
- Can you work from an identity we already have?
- Yes. Most brand decks document an identity that exists but was never written down. We audit what is in use and resolve the contradictions.
