Terms of service.
These terms govern the use of designkompanie.com and the services we provide. By commissioning work from us you agree to them.
1. Who we are
DesignKompanie is a design studio based in Basel, Switzerland, providing illustration, book design, publishing support and related creative services. Contact: hello@designkompanie.com.
2. Quotes and commissions
Information on this website is an invitation to enquire, not a binding offer. Every commission is agreed individually by email or written proposal — scope, price, timeline and deliverables. Work begins once both sides have confirmed the proposal.
3. Payment
Unless agreed otherwise, projects are invoiced with a deposit before work begins and the balance on delivery. Delivered files remain our property until payment is complete.
4. Usage rights
On full payment you receive the usage rights agreed in the proposal — for book commissions this is normally the worldwide right to print, publish and sell the work in the commissioned title. We retain the right to show the work in our portfolio unless agreed otherwise in writing.
5. Your materials
You confirm that manuscripts, photos and other materials you send us are yours to use, and that commissioned work based on them does not infringe third-party rights.
6. Liability
We deliver our work with professional care. To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the fee paid for the commission concerned; we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for the commercial performance of published titles.
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by Swiss law. Place of jurisdiction is Basel, Switzerland. Last updated: August 2026.
