A studio service

Demo day decks and the deck that comes after.

A demo day pitch is short enough that the slide is nearly a poster, and the round is not won on stage — it is won in the meetings that follow. So there are two documents, and most founders only build the first. We build both, and we will tell you honestly when your accelerator would rather you made the stage slide yourself.

N° 01What the format does

A minute on stage, weeks of meetings after.

01

One minute is a claim, not an explanation

At that length you are not describing a business. You are making one thing memorable enough that an investor opens your profile in the batch list afterwards. Three slides is common; one is not unusual.

02

The round runs after the room empties

Demo day generates meetings; the meetings need a deck that works with nobody narrating. That second document is where most of the money is actually raised, and it is the one most founders build last, in a hurry, mid-round.

03

Some programmes want it plain

Several accelerators coach a deliberately unpolished house style and would rather you built the stage slide yourself. Where that is the case we will say so and point you at the deck that is worth paying for instead.

04

In a residency, the company is weeks old

Day-zero programmes form teams during the cohort. There is no logo, no palette and no prior deck — this is the company's first document, so a little identity work has to happen alongside it.

N° 02What we build

Two documents, one argument.

01

The stage deck

Built to the slot, whether that is sixty seconds or six minutes. Large type, one claim, readable from the back and on a phone replay afterwards.

02

The seed deck

The one that runs the round. Read alone, without you explaining it, so it has to carry the argument itself — not the stage deck with paragraphs added.

03

A starting identity, if there isn't one

For day-zero teams: a wordmark, a palette and type that make the first deck look like a company rather than a template. Enough to raise on, not a full brand programme.

N° 03Who this is for

Cohort-based, with a fixed date.

01

Accelerator cohorts

Techstars, 500, Plug and Play and the many regional programmes. A known date, a known format, and a batch of peers all pitching the same afternoon.

02

Residency and day-zero programmes

Antler, Entrepreneur First and similar: teams formed during the programme, pitching an investment committee with no prior assets to build from.

03

Deep-tech founders in any of them

Where the product is genuinely hard to explain, which is the case where design earns its fee most clearly — turning an architecture into something a generalist grasps quickly.

Questions

The answers we give most often.

How many slides for a one-minute pitch?
Often three, sometimes one. At a minute you are making a single claim memorable enough that an investor opens your profile afterwards — not explaining the business.
Should we outsource the demo day slide itself?
Sometimes not, and we would rather say so. Several accelerators coach a plain house style and prefer founders make that slide themselves. Where that is true, the work worth paying for is the seed deck you send afterwards, when the round is actually run.
Our company is three weeks old. Is that too early?
No, it is just a different job. No logo, no palette, no prior deck — this is the company's first document, so a small amount of identity work happens alongside it.
Which accelerators does this cover?
The format matters more than the brand. Cohort programmes ending in a timed investor pitch share the same constraints — Techstars, Antler, Entrepreneur First, Alchemist, 500, Plug and Play and many regional ones.
When should we start?
The date is fixed the day you join the cohort, which makes it easy to plan around and commonly left late. Two to three weeks out is comfortable; the final week should be rehearsal, not design.
Can you help after demo day rather than before?
Often that is the better moment. The round runs in the weeks afterwards and the deck doing that work is the seed deck, not the stage slide.

Tell us the programme, the date and how long your slot is. We'll come back with what we'd build — including whether your accelerator would rather you made the stage slide yourself.
