A studio service

How-to-draw books, one step at a time.

A how-to-draw book works when a child's drawing looks like the picture at the end. That depends on how each subject is broken into steps. We illustrate step-by-step drawing books for authors, art teachers and publishers.

N° 01What goes in the book

Simple shapes to finished drawings.

01

Step sequences

Each subject built in four to eight steps, starting from circles, ovals and lines.

02

New lines in colour

The lines added at each step are shown in a second colour, so the child sees exactly what to draw next.

03

Practice space

A blank or lightly gridded area beside the steps, or a facing page to draw on.

04

Themed chapters

Animals, vehicles, people, faces and expressions, or your own subject list.

05

Tips pages

Short pages on shading, proportion or drawing movement for older children.

06

Finished gallery

The completed drawings in colour, as a goal and a colouring reference.

N° 02The part that goes wrong

The jump between step three and four.

01

Steps that skip

The classic fault: three easy steps, then a finished drawing. Every step adds only a few lines.

02

Style too hard for the age

A realistic horse is beyond most seven-year-olds. The drawing style is chosen for the age band.

03

No room to draw

A book with no practice space sends the child off to find paper. Space is planned into the layout.

04

Copied characters

Lessons on drawing famous characters need a licence. Our subjects are original or generic.

N° 03How it runs

Plan first, artwork after.

01

1. Page plan

We agree the age band, the subject list, the number of steps per subject and whether practice space sits on the same page.

02

2. Sample pages

Two or three finished pages in the agreed look, so you approve the style and the difficulty before the rest is made.

03

3. Full interior

Every page produced to the plan, with answers or instructions where the format needs them, then one consolidated round of changes.

04

4. Cover and files

Cover design, front matter and print-ready files at your trim size, set to your printer's or platform's template.

N° 05Questions

The answers we give most often.

How many steps should each drawing have?
Usually four to six for young children and up to eight for older ones. More small steps are easier to follow than fewer large ones.
Can you match my own drawing style?
Yes. If you are an artist or teacher with your own method, send examples and we build the step sequences in your style.
Do you make how-to-draw books for teens?
Yes. They use more realistic subjects and add shading and proportion, and the style is agreed on sample pages.
Can it be printed through Amazon KDP?
Yes. It is a standard paperback. A second colour for new lines means a colour interior, which costs more to print than black and white; we can show the steps in grey and black instead.
Do I own the lessons?
Yes, with full commercial rights and the source files.
