A studio service

Scissor skills workbooks, built to be cut up.

A scissor skills book is destroyed on purpose. Every page is cut, and the pieces are glued somewhere else. That changes how the book is designed: single-sided pages, lines a small hand can follow, and pieces that fit the spaces made for them. We design cutting and cut-and-paste workbooks for authors, teachers and publishers.

N° 01What goes in the book

Cutting pages in the right order.

01

Snip and line pages

Short snips, then straight lines, then curves, waves and zigzags, each with a picture at the end of the line.

02

Shapes and spirals

Cut-out circles, squares and stars, then spirals and simple silhouettes.

03

Cut-and-paste scenes

A background with outlined spaces and a sheet of pieces that fit them: animals onto the farm, fruit into the bowl.

04

Build-a-picture and sequencing

Cut the parts, assemble the robot; cut the strips, put the story in order.

05

Paper-craft pages

Simple fold-and-glue crowns, puppets and chains for older preschoolers.

06

Progress pages

A certificate and a first-cut keepsake page for the parent or teacher.

N° 02The part that goes wrong

A cut page has a back.

01

Double-sided printing

Cutting one page destroys the one behind it. Cutting pages are planned single-sided, with instructions or plain pages on the reverse.

02

Lines too fine

Cutting lines are bold and dotted, with the direction shown, so a child can see where the blade goes.

03

Pieces that do not fit

Every cut-out and its target space are drawn together at the same size, with room for a wobbly cut.

04

Paper weight

Thin paper tears under small scissors. Paper weight is a print choice agreed with your printer before the pages are designed around it.

N° 03How it runs

Plan first, artwork after.

01

1. Page plan

We agree the age band, the order of cutting skills, the scenes and the page count, and confirm single-sided printing with your printer.

02

2. Sample pages

Two or three finished pages in the agreed look, so you approve the style and the difficulty before the rest is made.

03

3. Full interior

Every page produced to the plan, with answers or instructions where the format needs them, then one consolidated round of changes.

04

4. Cover and files

Cover design, front matter and print-ready files at your trim size, set to your printer's or platform's template.

N° 05Questions

The answers we give most often.

What age are scissor skills books for?
Most are made for ages three to six. The order of skills, from snips to shapes to scenes, is the same; the page count and the piece sizes change with the age band you name.
Why must the pages be single-sided?
Because cutting a page destroys whatever is printed behind it. We plan every cutting page with a plain or instruction-only reverse, which also helps with glue bleed-through.
Can it be printed through Amazon KDP?
Yes. It is a standard paperback, usually at 8.5 x 11 inches. KDP prints both sides of every sheet, so the reverse of each cutting page is designed as a plain or instruction page.
Can the pieces match a story or character of mine?
Yes. Send the character or theme and the cut-and-paste scenes are built around it.
Do I own the pages?
Yes, with full commercial rights and the editable files.
