The traction slide evidence, on an honest axis.

Traction is the slide that turns claims into evidence. It should show one metric that matters for your kind of business, over time, on a chart that has not been arranged to flatter. Investors know the tricks, and a chart that uses them costs more trust than a modest number shown plainly.

These are starting points for the scope listed, not a maximum. Larger or more specialised work — a full appendix set, regulated or clinical material, or a partnering package built to a conference deadline — is scoped and quoted per project.

N° 01What to show

Four choices that make it credible.

01

One lead metric

Revenue if you have it. If not, the measure closest to it: paying customers, signed contracts, active users, units sold.

02

Over time

Monthly or quarterly, from the start, so the reader sees the shape and not just the latest figure.

03

Not cumulative

A cumulative chart always goes up. Show the figure for each period so growth, or its absence, is visible.

04

Supporting proof

Two or three additional facts: retention, a named customer, a signed pilot. Each one specific.

N° 02When numbers are small

Early-stage traction is still traction.

01

Pilots and letters of intent

Name the organisations where you can, and say what they have committed to.

02

Waiting lists and pre-orders

Show the number and how it was gathered. A list built from paid ads is weaker than one built by referral.

03

Completed projects

For a sponsor or builder, the track record of finished projects is the traction slide.

Questions

The answers we give most often.

What is the traction slide?
The slide that shows evidence the business is working: revenue, customers, usage or other progress over time.
Which metrics should I show?
The one closest to revenue for your business model, plus two or three supporting facts such as retention or named customers. Avoid a wall of numbers.
Should I use a cumulative chart?
No. Cumulative charts rise even when growth has stopped. Show each period's figure.
What if we are pre-revenue?
Show pilots, signed letters of intent, waiting list size, or product milestones reached, with dates.
Where does the traction slide go?
After product and business model. A company with strong traction may move it near the front.
How do I show a bad month?
Leave it in and be ready to explain it. A gap or a trimmed axis is noticed and is worse than the dip.

Next step

Want the whole deck to hold together?

One strong slide rarely rescues a deck. We design the argument end to end.
