A studio service
Light, through leaves.
A forest painting is not about trees. It is about the light between them — dappled ground, a bright gap in the canopy, and the fact that a wood is darkest at the edges of your view and lightest in the middle. Get that and a handful of vertical marks becomes a forest.

N° 01Floor to canopy
Undergrowth, then the gap in the trees.
Built from the ground up, because the forest floor is where the values are decided.
01
Ferns & undergrowth
Layered greens and negative-space painting — the fern is what you leave, not what you paint.
02
Mushrooms & forest floor
Small, contained studies. Good short exercises, and the most forgiving subject in the set.
03
Trees & camp scenes
Trunks, canopy gaps, and a tent under trees — where dappled light finally gets used at full scale.
N° 02How a workbook works
Not a coloring book. A lesson you paint.
Every woodland exercise arrives in three parts, so you are never staring at a blank page wondering where to start.
01
The finished painting
You see where you are going before you start — the completed piece, printed at full size, so you can match value and edge as you work.
02
The washes, in order
The same painting broken into its stages: first wash, second wash, detail. You paint one layer, let it dry, and turn the page.
03
A base to paint on
A light printed guide on the facing page. Paint straight onto it, or use it as a drawing reference on your own paper.
N° 03Made to be painted on
Laid out for wet media.
Every page is single-sided, so water never buckles the exercise on the back. Margins are wide enough to tape down, the printed guide lines are pale enough to vanish under a wash, and the whole file is 300 DPI so a home printer gives you a usable surface. Print on any 200gsm+ cold-press and it behaves like a proper block.

N° 05Questions
The answers we give most often.
- How do you paint dappled light without it looking like spots?
- By reserving it rather than adding it, and by keeping the lit patches connected in one shape. The canopy exercises build up to exactly this, starting from a single lit gap.
- Are camping scenes included?
- Yes — tents, camp fires and woodland camp scenes appear in the later exercises, using the same dappled-light technique at a larger scale.
- Is this related to your mushroom coloring pages?
- Same subject, different product. The coloring pages are outlines to fill in; this teaches you to paint a mushroom from a reference painting and staged washes.
- What do the packs cost?
- $9.99 for the 10-exercise Starter, $19.99 for the 30-exercise Workbook, and $39.99 for the Complete set with 60+ exercises and a commercial licence for KDP and Etsy.
